So, why start a portable shower brand in Australia back in 2020?
Like all good ideas, it started out of pure necessity. As busy parents constantly chasing beach days and weekend adventures, we needed an easy way to keep the kids, our gear, and the car clean without it turning into a mission.
We looked at what was already out there… and while portable showers did exist, most relied on batteries or electricity. Not exactly ideal when you're off-grid or juggling sandy toddlers.
Our First Fraken-Shower
Those power-hungry options weren’t dealbreakers, but we knew there had to be a better way — something easy to use, simple to store, and pump-operated so even the kids could use it (and they do!).
So off to the hardware store we went. A few bits and bobs later, and our very first Franken-shower was born.
Our First Official 'Beach Shower'
This Franken-shower did the job, but let’s be honest, we needed something stronger, more reliable, and always ready to go (with zero need for on-the-fly DIY repairs).
So it was back to the drawing board. A few tweaks here and a couple of adjustments there and voila!
We created our first official 'Beach Shower' — and it was ready for the world.
Was it Perfect?
Heck no. But we were proud of our little Beach-Shower-that-could.
And when we sold out of that first run and started getting incredible feedback, we realised we were onto something big.
Our shower wasn’t just handy for us — it was solving problems for other families, campers, surfers, pet lovers, and vanlifers too.
So we doubled down. We invested in rigorous R&D, created custom moulds, and spent months testing, tweaking, and retesting until we launched our current 5L and 8L models: the kind of gear you buy once and rely on forever.
What Happened Next?
The response blew us away.
From kind words and glowing reviews to the classic “I wish we had these when my kids were younger!” comments — it became clear that we weren’t the only ones who needed a better solution for outdoor clean-ups.
But more than that, we saw our little Aussie brand start to connect with people all over the world.
And that’s when we knew: this was more than just a product — it was a new way to do life outdoors.
More Than Just a Shower
As Beach Soul grew, so did our mission. We started designing thoughtful add-ons to make outdoor life even easier — like our hands-free Shower Holder, the all-in-one Bag ’n’ Mat, and our latest release: the FDA-approved 10L Food Grade Shower, perfect for rinsing off and safe for drinking from too.
Our sleeves also got a sustainable upgrade. Made with REPREVE® recycled fabric, each one saves around three plastic bottles from landfill — a small change that adds up.
